THE WHITELEY RESIDENCE

Over a century ago, The Whiteley opened in Bayswater, West London, as the city’s first department store. Now, with architectural restoration and transformation by Foster + Partners, it is being redeveloped as a hospitality destination and residence, accommodating the UK’s first Six Senses hotel and spa, a selection of restaurants and retailers, and 139 private residences.

LUXURY RESIDENCE FOR A WORLD TRAVELLER

On the third floor is a luxury residence designed by London- and Hong Kong-based Joyce Wang Studio as part of The Whiteley’s Designer Collection. The generously sized four-bedroom apartment spans 4,080 square feet, with a ceiling nearly 20 feet high, and features a 400 square foot mezzanine with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the central living space. Though vast in dimension, the apartment interior was skilfully designed to be warm and welcoming, with a thoughtful layout, natural colour palette, plush textiles, and earthy materials including wood and stone. With interior details, furniture, and collectibles from across the globe, the apartment is eminently suitable for a world traveller.

“It was a true honour, and a rare opportunity, to be given both a blank slate and carte blanche for this project at The Whiteley. The quietly luxurious and grand space we have crafted is layered with custom pieces spanning eras and continents, as well as collectibles from and inspired by our imaginary client’s travels,” Joyce Wang.

FEATURING DE LA ESPADA

De La Espada furniture features throughout, including Twenty-Five Coffee Tables in the central living space, Twenty-Five Work Table in the home office, and Solo Wide Cabinet in the bedroom.
