The M-4 House is a single-family residence set amongst the stunning mountains and valleys of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. C Cubica Arquitectos chose to take full advantage of the privileged location by designing the house to integrate with the landscape. The home consists of two volumes joined with a bridge, with gardens and a reflection pool nestled between. The first block, housing the living, dining and bedroom areas, features a slender, double height lobby that frames the mountains beyond. Just a few steps away, a double-height room opens onto the surroundings, merging the indoor and outdoor spaces. The second block, dedicated to sports and recreation, includes a gym, pool, garden and terrace for events. It is accessed through a steel bridge covered in perforated steel with excellent views of the city. The materials and colours of the house seek to blend in with the natural environment, combining the sleekness of concrete and steel with the character of stone and the warmth of wood. De La Espada products feature throughout the home including Solo Dining Chair and Frame Sofa by Neri&Hu; Elysia Lounge Chair by Luca Nichetto; Mira Lounge Chair and Armstrong Sofa by Matthew Hilton; and Butterfly Chair by Autoban.

Armstrong sofa is a cool and brooding design with an exposed timber frame and a cast iron legs.

The Frame series explores the architectural concept of tectonics, celebrating the art of construction. It was developed with the objective to create a single frame that could serve all the needs of the product such as a base, legs, decorative feature, and even practical support for accessories including trays. Made from solid wood, the frame’s appearance reveals clearly how it is constructed through the visible joinery details.

The timber backrest wraps around this chair as the wings of a butterfly. A comfortable and understated design, it has become a favourite for contract projects worldwide.

Mira is a visually light, modern transformation of the traditional bergere chair.

The perfect synthesis of superior woodwork and fine tailoring is revealed in Elysia. The lounge chair has a solid wood leg construction that cradles the padded shell of the seat and the backrest. The “skeleton”, traditionally hidden inside the upholstery, is deliberately exposed to showcase the craftsmanship and premium timber. The exceptional comfort Elysia offers is visually communicated through the padding enveloping the shell, and the generous folds of fabric on the cushion.
