Designed by Joel Tobman and Lukas Armstrong, the Last Defence Lounge provides and upscale, inviting atmosphere for both graduate students and faculty at the University of Calgary. The extensive use of wood ensures a warm feel to the space and a graphic mural of silhouetted trees along the west wall not only provides a strong identity, but also mimics the windows on the south and east walls. In front of the graphic, solid Douglas Fir timbers were custom milled to create comfortable and flexible bench seating. A fireplace tucked into the corner of the room is surrounded by Bergere chairs by Autoban, providing coveted space for relaxation.
