50's Style Above Zagreb

An elegant office located on the top two floors of the oldest skyscraper in Zagreb was designed by Brigada. The design was inspired by the 1950’s, reflecting the decade in which the skyscraper was built, and its distinction at the time as the tallest and most contemporary commercial building in Croatia, along with the fact that the client is personally a fan of the period. The 550 square metre space has a visual warmth provided by the flood of natural light spilling through the glass facade, and the generous use of wood throughout the space.  Practical items from the 1950’s including television sets, radios and phones, are combined with custom walnut veneer furniture by Brigada, and mid-century design furniture classics by Charles and Ray Eames, Charles Pollock, Finn Juhl, and Herman Miller. The space also includes Box Sofa designed by Autoban and manufactured by De La Espada.

Box Sofa, inspired by the 1950’s modernist movement, has the pure shape of a box. The inner face of the solid wood form offers refined comfort with crisp upholstery and classic tuft detailing. The four supporting legs appear to be impossibly slender, creating a stunning profile. Designed by Autoban and manufactured by De La Espada for the Autoban brand.
