De La Espada returns to Lisbon Design Week this year, as both the main sponsor and an exhibitor.

Running from 22 - 26 May 2024, the second annual Lisbon Design Week is a celebration of Portuguese creativity and craft with a curated programme of product launches, open studios, exhibitions, workshops, masterclasses, presentations, talks, and more across the city.

Below is information on our exhibition, followed by a few hand-selected events across the city.

DE LA ESPADA AT OJO GALLERY

De La Espada presents the new Arts & Crafts cabinet system by De La Espada Atelier.

The new cabinet system, which fuses the skills of artists and craftsmen from various disciplines, will be exhibited at OJO Gallery, a Lisbon art gallery with a focus on contemporary art made using ancient techniques.

The cabinet will be presented in dialogue with a selection of artworks in different media, specially created for the exhibition by French artist Victor Marqué, under the curation of Marie de Carvalho, owner of OJO gallery.

FLORES TEXTILE STUDIO

A special installation at the Flores Textile Studio showroom in Praça das Flores will feature a photography exhibition alongside several new additions to the Flores “essentials” furniture collection, exploring a variety of Portuguese materials and crafts.

Flores Textile Studio is an interior design studio and showroom that partners with local artisans to merge contemporary design with traditional craft.


ANDO LIVING CLUBHOUSE

Ando Living offers lifestyle-serviced residences connecting a community of travellers and locals alike. For Lisbon Design Week, they are housing two exhibitions: one by Passa Ao Futuro and one by Vasco Águas.

Passa Ao Futuro will present Campo, the first collection of products from their Plant Based Design Residency, designed by Sam Baron and handmade by Toino Abel in the context of the Made in Platform for Contemporary Crafts & Design project, a research, design and heritage initiative encouraging exchange between traditional craftspeople and contemporary designers.

Vasco Águas will present the exhibition Territórios de Infância which, through topographic maps, pays homage to the impact of memories, and the places and the landscapes that shape us.


FURTHER THER / LUSO COLLECTIVE DEBUT

Honouring craft excellence and the character of their materials, Further Ther create exceptional limited-edition tableware and furniture. At Lisbon Design Week, they will debut a new initiative, Luso Collective, featuring their own work, as well as pieces by Garcé & Dimofski, Macheia & Studio Gameiro. Curated by Further Ther x Thisispaper.

 
CASA LOEWE

CASA LOEWE Lisbon fuses the Spanish luxury house's fashion and accessory collections with an idiosyncratic curation of art, craft, and design furniture. They will be showing the jewellery collection (wearable sculpture) designed by Lynda Benglis, exclusively brought to the Lisbon store for Lisbon Design Week.


MADE IN SITU

The Made in Situ Lisbon gallery, founded by designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, is a platform that fosters a series of cross-disciplinary exchanges exploring, through the prism of the designer's eye, a variety of territories, geological, artisanal, economic and cultural. At Lisbon Design Week, they will present Duchaufour-Lawrance's new collection, Caretos.


NATIONAL MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART(MNAC)

During Lisbon Design Week, the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC) presents, in collaboration with Portugal Faz Bem, Art Store, Books & Living, highlighting the importance of contemporary design in the artistic and cultural expression of Portugal. Through careful curation, they highlight national brands and designers that represent some of the best of the country's creative talent, and offer workshops, masterclasses, and talks.


LISBON BY DESIGN

Returning for its fourth edition in the intimate domestic setting of Palacete Gomes Freire, Lisbon by Design presents a carefully curated section of work created specially for the exhibition by outstanding artists, artisans, studios and galleries. This year's edition includes work by Amande Haeghen, Origin Made, Viúva Lamego, and more.
